\u0152uvres des fr\u00e8res<\/b> Henry (1595-1662) et William (1602-1645) Lawes<\/b><\/span><\/p>

Dans ce nouveau programme, l\u2019ensemble Ground Floor<\/b> et le t\u00e9nor anglais Mark Padmore<\/b> nous invitent en Angleterre, \u00e0 la fin de la premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 du XVII\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, en compagnie de Henry et William Lawes. Ces deux fr\u00e8res surdou\u00e9s, gentlemen de la cour de Charles 1er, suivent des chemins singuliers : l’a\u00een\u00e9, Henry est le favori des \u00ab\u00a0Cavalier Poets\u00a0\u00bb et mettra en musique leurs vers tiss\u00e9s d’une bruissante nature : fleurs, oiseaux, amour – douceurs et tourments – peuplent ses ayres. Le cadet, William, tu\u00e9 par une balle perdue \u00e0 la bataille de Chester est l’auteur de Consorts exceptionnels par leur densit\u00e9 th\u00e9matique, leur insolence harmonique, leur contrepoint ing\u00e9nieux et terriblement hardi. Ground Floor retrouve ici des th\u00e8mes qui sont chers \u00e0 sa curiosit\u00e9 – po\u00e9sie, nature, philosophie, math\u00e9matique : c’est l’\u00e9poque et le ferment qui verront na\u00eetre Isaac Newton, dont la loi sur la gravitation universelle changera le regard de l’homme sur le monde et sur lui-m\u00eame.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Rendre \u00e0 la musique sa puissance de transformation et d’interrogation – telle est la pr\u00e9occupation des musiciens de Ground Floor, attach\u00e9s \u00e0 faire parler ce r\u00e9pertoire qui r\u00e9pand aujourd’hui encore ses parfums charmants, enivrants, stimulants. Explorer les infinies possibilit\u00e9s qu’offre la basse-continue, c\u0153ur battant de la musique des 17e et 18e si\u00e8cles, en mati\u00e8re d’interpr\u00e9tation et d’instrumentation, exp\u00e9rimenter en s’appuyant tant sur le texte lui-m\u00eame que sur son contexte (philosophique, litt\u00e9raire, artistique, historique voire socio-politique) : ainsi Ground Floor cherche-t-il \u00e0 offrir au public une musique vivante, spontan\u00e9e, fra\u00eeche et pleine de sens.
Ground Floor est un ensemble d’instruments d’accompagnement : soutenir la voix, humaine (ou instrumentale), pour en mettre en lumi\u00e8re le discours, les couleurs, les affects, les actions et passions – par l’\u00e9change, l’\u00e9coute et la coll\u00e9gialit\u00e9, et sans jamais oublier l’esprit d’aventure.<\/i><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Mark Padmore<\/b> was born in London and studied at King\u2019s College, Cambridge. He has established an international career in opera, concert and recital. His appearances in Bach Passions have gained particular notice, especially his renowned performances as Evangelist in the St Matthew and St John Passions with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and Simon Rattle, staged by Peter Sellars. A highlight of Mark’s 2021\/22 season is a residency at Wigmore Hall where he celebrates his relationship with pianists Till Fellner, Imogen Cooper, Mitsuko Uchida and Paul Lewis. He will also appear in recital in Brussels with Simon Lepper, Madrid with Kristian Bezuidenhout and in a six-concert US tour with Mitsuko Uchida. Other appearances in this busy season include a staged Britten War Requiem at the Liceu Barcelona, Evangelist St Matthew Passion at the Bayerische Rundfunk conducted by Simon Rattle, and directing performances of St John Passion with the Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment. Mark recently appeared in a new Royal Opera House, Covent Garden production of Britten\u2019s Death in Venice, where his performance was described as a \u201ctour de force\u201d and \u201cexquisite of voice, [presenting] Aschenbach\u2019s physical and spiritual breakdown with extraordinary detail and insight\u201d. Other opera roles have included the leading roles in Harrison Birtwistle The Corridor and The Cure at the Aldeburgh Festival; Captain Vere in Britten Billy Budd and Evangelist in a staging of St Matthew Passion both for Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the world premiere of Tansy Davies Cave with the London Sinfonietta. In concert Mark performs with the world\u2019s leading orchestras. He was Artist in Residence for the 2017\/18 Season with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and held a similar position with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra for 2016\/17. His work with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment has involved projects exploring both Bach St John and St Matthew Passions and has attracted worldwide acclaim. His extensive discography includes Beethoven Missa Solemnis and Haydn Die Sch\u00f6pfung with Bernard Haitink and Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra on BR Klassik and Lieder by Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart with Kristian Bezuidenhout for Harmonia Mundi. Other Harmonia Mundi recordings; Schubert cycles with Paul Lewis (Winterreise won the 2010 Gramophone magazine Vocal Award); Schumann Dichterliebe with Kristian Bezuidenhout (2011 Edison Klassiek Award) and Britten Serenade, Nocturne and Finzi Dies Natalis with the Britten Sinfonia (ECHO\/Klassik 2013 award). Mark was voted 2016 Vocalist of the Year by Musical America and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Kent University in 2014. He was appointed CBE in the 2019 Queens\u2019 Birthday Honours List.
