MORNING STAR<\/strong><\/em>
Traditionnellement, au Royaume-Uni, les jours pr\u00e9c\u00e9dant la Nuit des Rois ont un air d’accalmie post-No\u00ebl.
No\u00ebl. C’est une p\u00e9riode de sommeil, o\u00f9 l’on attend avec impatience la promesse d’une nouvelle ann\u00e9e. Les journ\u00e9es sont froides et courtes, scintillantes de givre, et ponctu\u00e9es de longues nuits sombres.
Mais il y a aussi le \u00ab\u00a0petit No\u00ebl\u00a0\u00bb – l’\u00c9piphanie, qui vient du grec \u00ab\u00a0epiphaneia\u00a0\u00bb, signifiant \u00ab\u00a0apparition\u00a0\u00bb, et qui est l’un des trois principaux et plus anciens jours de f\u00eate de l’\u00c9glise chr\u00e9tienne. Et c\u2019est tout un r\u00e9pertoire musical merveilleux \u00e0 explorer en cette p\u00e9riode de l’ann\u00e9e. Plein d’espoir et de joie, faisant souvent allusion \u00e0 \u00ab l’\u00e9toile du matin \u00bb (morning star), il offre une promesse de renouveau et de renaissance.

The Gesualdo Six<\/strong> est un ensemble vocal britannique prim\u00e9, compos\u00e9 de quelques-uns des meilleurs chanteurs de consort du Royaume-Uni et dirig\u00e9 par Owain Park. Lou\u00e9 pour ses programmes imaginatifs et son \u00e9quilibre vocal impeccable, l’ensemble s’est form\u00e9 en 2014 pour une repr\u00e9sentation des Tenebrae Responsories de Gesualdo \u00e0 Cambridge et s’est ensuite produit dans de nombreux festivals majeurs \u00e0 travers le Royaume-Uni, l’Europe, l’Am\u00e9rique du Nord, l’Australie et la Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande.
Parmi les faits marquants, citons un concert dans le cadre de la s\u00e9rie distingu\u00e9e Deutschlandradio Debut Series, des repr\u00e9sentations dans des lieux renomm\u00e9s tels que le Wigmore Hall de Londres, le Miller Theatre de New York, l’Op\u00e9ra de Sydney, et leurs d\u00e9buts aux Proms de la BBC en 2023. L’ensemble a collabor\u00e9 avec Fretwork, le Brodsky Quartet et Matilda Lloyd, et tourne une \u0153uvre de concert-th\u00e9\u00e2tre intitul\u00e9e Secret Byrd avec le metteur en sc\u00e8ne Bill Barclay.
The Gesualdo Six<\/strong> est engag\u00e9 dans l’\u00e9ducation musicale et organise r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement des ateliers pour les jeunes musiciens et compositeurs. L’ensemble a organis\u00e9 deux concours de composition, dont le plus r\u00e9cent a attir\u00e9 plus de trois cents compositeurs du monde entier. Owain Park<\/strong> est compositeur, chef d’orchestre, chanteur et organiste. En plus de diriger The Gesualdo Six<\/strong>, il travaille r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement avec des ensembles tels que les BBC Singers et Cappella Cracoviensis. Owain est \u00e9galement le directeur musical du Ch\u0153ur de Cambridge.
Les compositions d’Owain sont publi\u00e9es par Novello et ont \u00e9t\u00e9 jou\u00e9es hors des fronti\u00e8res britanniques par des ensembles tels que les Tallis Scholars et l’Aurora Orchestra. Pendant ses \u00e9tudes \u00e0 l’universit\u00e9 de Cambridge, il a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 l’orchestration avec John Rutter, avant d’entreprendre un master en composition.
