Depuis sa fondation \u00e0 Madrid en 1997, Cuarteto Casals<\/b> est devenu l\u2019un des principaux quatuors \u00e0 cordes europ\u00e9ens. D\u00e9couvert lors des concours internationaux de Londres (2000) et Brahms (2002), dont il remporta les premiers prix, il joue aujourd\u2019hui sur les sc\u00e8nes de Londres, Paris, Berlin, Vienne, Zurich, Amsterdam, Madrid, New York ou encore Tokyo, et participe \u00e0 de nombreux festivals, dont ceux de Salzbourg et Lucerne. Le quatuor a accompagn\u00e9 le Roi d\u2019Espagne lors de visites officielles et jou\u00e9 au Palais Royal de Madrid sur le quatuor d\u2019instruments Stradivarius de la famille royale.
Ses pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents enregistrements pour harmonia mundi<\/em> ont \u00e9t\u00e9 chaleureusement accueillis par la critique. Cuarteto Casals a cr\u00e9\u00e9 plusieurs \u0153uvres des compositeurs espagnols Jes\u00f9s Rueda, David del Puerto et Jordi Cervell\u00f3, mais a \u00e9galement travaill\u00e9 avec le Hongrois Gy\u00f6rgy Kurt\u00e1g et l\u2019\u00c9cossais James MacMillan, et enregistr\u00e9 Morphing du Fran\u00e7ais Christian Lauba. En 2005, le quatuor a re\u00e7u le prix de la ville de Barcelone, en 2006 le Prix Musical National Espagnol, puis en 2008 le prix de la fondation Borletti-Buitoni. On a pu l\u2019entendre dans diverses \u00e9missions \u00e0 la radio et \u00e0 la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision en Europe et en Am\u00e9rique du Nord. Cuarteto Casals a \u00e9t\u00e9 principalement influenc\u00e9 par Walter Levin, Rainer Schmidt et le Quatuor Alban Berg ; actuellement, le quatuor est en r\u00e9sidence aux conservatoires de Barcelone et Saragosse.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Quatuor \u00e0 cordes n\u00b0 11 en fa mineur<\/strong> (opus 122)<\/span>
Cr\u00e9\u00e9 par le Quatuor Beethoven \u00e0 Moscou le 30 mai 1966, il est d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 la m\u00e9moire de Vassili Chirinski, second violoniste et membre fondateur du Quatuor Beethoven, disparu quelques semaines plus t\u00f4t et remplac\u00e9 par Nicolas Zabatnikov. C’est le premier des quatre quatuors de Chostakovitch d\u00e9di\u00e9s au Quatuor Beethoven, chacun \u00e9tant d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 un membre diff\u00e9rent de cet ensemble instrumental.<\/p>

Cette \u0153uvre, de l’aveu m\u00eame du compositeur, ne fait aucune place \u00e0 l’auditeur pour devenir une introspection : \u00ab Il faut le jouer de telle sorte que les mouches tombent mortes du plafond et que les spectateurs commencent \u00e0 sortir de la salle par pur ennui. \u00bb Elle est consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme le Requiem du compositeur.
L’\u0153uvre compl\u00e9t\u00e9e le 17 mai 1974 a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e le 15 novembre 1974 par le Quatuor Taneyev \u00e0 L\u00e9ningrad. Il s’agit d’un des deux seuls quatuors de Chostakovitch qui n’a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 par le Quatuor Beethoven.<\/p>
